Jay Willoughby
Jay Willoughby is Chief Investment Officer of The Investment Fund for Foundations (TIFF) since 2015, responsible for portfolio management and presiding over the full range of TIFF’s investment activities and programs. TIFF is a highly regarded outsourced CIO (Chief Investment Officer) for foundations and endowments. Jay chairs TIFF’s Investment Committee.
He also serves on the board of American Homes 4 Rent (NYSE: AMH), a Real Estate Investment Trust.
Previously, Jay was the Chief Investment Officer for the Alaska Permanent Fund, a $81 billion trust fund set up from royalties paid from the revenues of the Alaska pipeline. The fund pays out approximately $1600 annually to every Alaska resident. Jay lived in Alaska for 4 years.
Before the Alaska Permanent Fund, Jay was Co-Managing Partner at Ironbound Capital Management. He spent nine years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers LP serving as CIO, Private Investors Group, Head of Research for Equity Funds; and Senior Portfolio Manager, Merrill Lynch Real Estate Fund.
Jay received his BA in biology from Pomona College and his MBA from Columbia University. Jay is a CFA charter holder and serves on the board of the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Foundation, which supports the development of accounting standards that help investors understand which sustainability factors can have a material impact on the future financial performance of individual public companies.
