Peter Donovan

Peter began his career at Continental Bank and then moved to the Krupp Companies (predecessor to Berkshire Realty Company). In 1991, he was president of Berkshire Mortgage Finance [BMF] and grew it from a company doing $150M a year in loan originations to doing over $3B in annual loan production with a $20B loan servicing portfolio. In 2004 he negotiated the sale of BMF to Deutsche Bank for $200 million. He spent the next 16 months integrating BMF into the Deutsche Bank operations.

 

Peter was Executive Managing Director of CBRE (2006 to 2020), the world’s largest global Real Estate Company. He was a Member of the CBRE’s Global Executive Leadership, where he oversaw the largest combined multifamily investment sales and finance platform in the U.S. and initiated the Fannie Mae and FHA multifamily platforms.

 

Peter has held several leadership positions and received several recognitions in the Real Estate industry including:

  • Chairman of the Fannie Mae Multifamily Advisory Council [twice]
  • Chairman of the Fannie Mae Capital Standards Task Force
  • Recipient of the Fannie Mae Larry Dale lifetime achievement award
  • Chairman of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC)
  • Member of the MBA Commercial Board of Governors (COMBOG)
  • Member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI)
  • Real Estate Round Table (PREA)
  • Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate (AFIRE)

 

Peter is active in community engagement. He is Board Chair – Circle of Hope, which is a Needham based non-profit supporting 26 Boston area homeless shelters. He is Co-Founder and Co-Board Chair, Summit Advisory Committee, a non-profit partnership providing strategic advisory services to emerging Multifamily businesses led by either women or minorities. He is a member of CCT Boston, a non-profit consulting group advising Boston area small to midsize non-profits on strategy and branding. Peter is also Founder and Chair of the John and Gertrude Donovan Foundation.

 

Peter was a member of the Board of Fellows at Trinity College and has been a Guest Speaker at Boston University, Harvard College, University of Michigan, Tufts & Northwestern University.

 

Peter is a graduate of Trinity College, with a BA in History, and Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management with an MBA in Finance and Marketing.

Peter has 3 children and resides in Westwood, MA.
