Kelly Conlin
Kelly Conlin is an executive with experience successfully managing companies in the midst of disruptive change, from his earliest role as Chief Assignment Editor at CNN during the network’s start-up era, to his most recent role as CEO of Zinio, the world’s leading platform for converting premium magazine content to digital devices.
He has been CEO of privately-held IDG, the world’s largest technology media company, CEO of publicly-held Primedia, the country’s largest publisher of enthusiast magazines, and CEO of venture-financed NameMedia, the pioneering ecommerce platform for the secondary domain market. He is currently on the board of directors of the E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE:SSP), one of the largest broadcasting companies in the country.
The experiences from these organizations are as diverse as directing the first satellite truck in New York (CNN), founding the global account sales team for multi-million dollar integrated marketing programs for the world’s leading technology companies (IDG), restoring revenue growth and turning an overleveraged company free cash flow positive (Primedia), building and successfully selling a venture-backed enterprise in a complex, three-way transaction (NameMedia), and creating a new software platform from a development center in Vietnam for the pioneer in digital magazines (Zinio).
During his tenure, companies he led have recorded record-setting profits, launched hundreds of new products, raised more than $1 billion of capital, opened offices in more than a dozen countries, and achieved the first-ever placement on Fortune’s ‘100 Best Places to Work in America’.
He was named by Media Industry Magazine as one of the Top 5 executives in the business publishing field and to its annual list of the Top 21 media innovators; Business Week named him to a list of the Top 25 “Next Generation” media executives.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of Carleton College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School.
